On the shores of a loch in western Scotland, near the highland boarder, lies
Fort Elksmuir, , a small stone stables one might miss driving through the area's winding roads. The Abbotson family has been farming as long as they can remember. In the 1920s, Arran Abbotson, who served as the town's veterinarian, started to take a keen interest in race horses and horse training, and the rest is history. The stable's name comes from the nearby Fort Frederick, an 18th century garrison now in ruins, and of course the frequency of deer that roam the hills.
